Summit K12

SMS Privacy Notice

This notice covers only the mobile number and consent record collected from Summit K12 Achieve application users who choose to receive text messages. It supplements, and does not replace, the Summit K12 Privacy Policy, which governs website visitors and student data.

What information does this program collect?

If you choose to receive text messages, Summit K12 collects the mobile number you enter, the date and time you gave consent, and an identifier recording the exact version of the consent language you agreed to. Nothing else is collected by this program.

Summit K12 does not obtain staff mobile numbers from school districts, from data brokers, or from any purchased or rented list. The number is supplied by you, in the application, after you sign in.

What organization is collecting the information?

Summit K12 Holdings, Inc. Contact details are at the foot of this page.

How does Summit K12 use the information it collects?

The mobile number is used only to send you the notifications described in the SMS Notification Terms. The consent record exists so that Summit K12 can demonstrate, to a mobile carrier or a regulator, that you asked to receive messages and what you were told at the time.

The number is not used for marketing, is not used to build a profile, and is not combined with student data.

With whom does Summit K12 share the information that is collected?

Summit K12 does not sell, rent, or trade mobile numbers, and does not share them with third parties for those parties’ own purposes.

To deliver a text message, the number is processed by Twilio Inc., the messaging provider acting on Summit K12’s instructions, and by your mobile carrier. This is what delivery requires and nothing more.

How does Summit K12 maintain the information it collects?

The number and consent record are held in the Achieve application database under the same access controls as the rest of your account. Consent records are retained after you opt out, because the record of a past consent is what evidences that messages already sent were authorised.

How do I have my number removed?

Reply STOP to any message, or clear the number in Achieve under Settings → Notification Preferences. To request deletion of the stored number, contact Summit K12 using the details below.
